Mistakes in the Quran which prove Islam is false (Part II)

Continued from “Mistakes in the Quran which prove Islam is false (Part I)”

All we need to prove that the Quran is not from God is one error. A book from God cannot contain even one mistake, and even if a book contains no error, it is no proof that it is from God, since even a human can write a book without any mistake. We saw 15 such major mistakes of the Quran in Part I. Let us see a few more here. We must also remember and repeat here that faithful believers go to any level to bend all rules of logic to deny the undeniable, defend the indefensible and explain the unexplainable. There should not be a need to explain contradictions in a ‘clear book’. The best answer to show that the Quran must not be interpreted in any other way than its obvious meaning comes from the Quran itself. The Quran repeatedly claims to be a “clear book” (5:15) “easy to understand” (44:58 , 54:22 , 54:32, 54:40) “explained in detail” (6:114), “conveyed clearly”, (5:16, 10:15) and with “no doubt” in it (2:1). For such a book, if errors and contradictions appear to be obvious, then the book itself should clarify the explanations- human explanations to clarify clear contradictions reveal that the book needs human interpretations to understand.

16-  Quran 84:1-5 “When the heaven is split asunder and attentive to her Lord in fear, And when the earth is spread out And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty  And attentive to her Lord in fear!”

Thus the verses 84:2 and 84:5 of the Quran say that Heaven and Earth fear God. Both Heaven and Earth are of course, non-living things who do not have any emotions, and they cannot be ‘attentive to God’ like living beings could be.

17-  Quran 29:14:And verily we sent Noah (as Our messenger) unto his folk, and he continued with them for a thousand years save fifty years; and the flood engulfed them, for they were wrong-doers.”

This verse 29:14 thus says Noah lived for at least 950 years. He actually preached as a messenger unto his folk for 950 years, meaning he lived for more years than that. This is of course, an absurdity since ‘Prophets’ are considered as mere mortal messengers of God with absolutely no superpowers. Ordinary human beings cannot live for 950 years, and this is a big blunder, a fairy-tale sort of description of the Quran. If the oldest known humans now cannot live for more than 120-125 years, there is no way humans of the past could live for as many as 950 years. The ‘best and last of God’s prophets’ i.e. Muhammad could not live more than 62 years of age. This is also mentioned in the Bible of course in Genesis 9:28-29 that Noah lived for a total of 950 years and then died. In the Quran, only his preaching time is mentioned as 950 years with no further information on how many years he lived before he became a Prophet, and how many years later he died after his preaching ended.

18- Quran 10:5, 25:61 and 71:16 say that the moon has light, whereas in reality the moon does not have light of its own, and simply reflects the light of the sun. This information (that the moon simply reflects the sun’s light) was known since at least 1,000 years before the time of Muhammad. Quran 10:5 says: “He it is Who appointed the sun a splendour and the moon a light, and measured for her stages, that ye might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah created not (all) that save in truth. He detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge.” Quran 71:16 says “And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp?”. Quran 25:61 says, “Blessed be He Who hath placed in the heaven mansions of the stars, and hath placed therein a great lamp and a moon giving light!

Muslim explanation: Some Muslims, desperate to explain the mistake, like Dr. Zakir Naik lie, “The Arabic word for moon is ‘qamar’ and the light described there is ‘muneer’ which is borrowed light, or ‘noor’ which is a reflection of light.” Dr. Naik insists that the Quran makes it clear that the light of the Moon is borrowed light and to prove that, he claims ‘nur’ means reflection. This is a blatant lie. Nur is not borrowed light nor reflection. It is light. Munir also does not mean borrowed light. It means ‘luminous’.  There are many verses in the Quran where the words nur and Munir are used and they cannot be interpreted as borrowed light. Eg 2:257 (“He bringeth them out of darkness into light”), 6:91 (“Moses brought, a light and guidance for mankind”), 4:174, 5:15, 5:44, 5:46, 6:1, 6:122, 7:157, 9:32, 13:16, 14:1, 14:5, 64:8, 33:46, 35:20, 39:69 and many others, which by no stretch of imagination can mean ‘borrowed light’ but simply mean ‘light’.

This knowledge, of course, was known to the ancient Greek astronomers at least 1,000 years before Muhammad, and can hardly be called miraculous knowledge. For example when Aristotle (384-322 B.C.) discussed the shape of the earth he was clear that the moon’s light is only reflected light of the sun.

Some Muslims claim that since the Quran uses different words speaking about the light of the sun and the light of the moon, it reveals that the sun is a source of light, while the moon only reflects light. Why would the Quran just use different nouns, calling the moon “a light” and the sun “a lamp”, to show this truth? If the author of the Quran wanted to convey this meaning, why did he simply not say: “The moon’s light is only a reflection from the light of the sun, and the Moon does not have its own light”? Simple and clear! The words for “light” and “sun” are used many times in the Quran and there is an Arabic word for reflection (in`ikaas) which is not used to described the Moon’s light.

The Quran repeatedly claims to be a “clear book” (5:15) “easy to understand” (44:58, 54:22 , 54:32, 54:40) “explained in detail” (6:114), “conveyed clearly”, (5:16, 10:15) and with “no doubt” in it (2:1). For such a book, if an error as blatant as ‘Moon having light’ would seem to be in it, then the book itself would state clearly ‘Moon does not have its own light’. This is a big mistake of the Quran saying the moon is a light, whereas in reality it has no light of its own.

19- Quran 18.86:Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu’l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.” The sun thus sets in a muddy spring according to the Quran. The Sun of course, doesn’t ‘set’ in any specific place anywhere.

Muslim explanation: Showmen like Dr Zakir Naik lie that “the Arabic word used here is wajada meaning, it appeared to Zulqarnain. Wajada means ‘it appeared.’ Allah is describing what appeared to Zulqarnain.”

Wajada means “found”, not “appeared”. All the ten translators of the Quran that we consult have translated this word as found. URL. Dr. Naik simply lies. The verse 18:85 says: “And he followed a road. Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found (wajada) it setting in a muddy spring, and found (wajada) a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu’l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.”

The word wajada is used twice. Are we supposed to understand that the people whom he saw were not real but also an apparition? How could he reward and punish such imaginary people? Again we find the same word in the same sura:

18:92-93 Then followed he (another) way, Until, when he reached (a tract) between two mountains, he found, (wajada)  beneath them, a people who scarcely understood a word.

In two other verses wajada is used which cannot mean ‘appeared’ but  only can mean ‘found’:
3:37 And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a goodly growth; and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found (wajada) that she had food.
28:23 And when he came unto the water of Midian he found (wajada) there a whole tribe of men, watering.

People like Zakir Naik lie and shift the blame on Zulqranain and say it is not the fault of Allah for saying what Zulqranain had mistakenly assumed. If so, why Allah did not make it clear that Zulqranain had made a mistake? Since in those days everyone thought that the Earth is flat, this was the perfect chance for Allah to set the record straight and clarify that Zulqranain was mistaken because the Sun does not set in waters; it is the Earth that is rotating making you think it is rising and setting. Nowhere in the entire Quran is it said ‘The earth rotates around itself’. On the contrary, the earth is described as ‘flat’. Can the Creator of the Earth be unaware of its shape?

20-  Quran 86:6-7  He is created from a drop emitted- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs…”

The Quran thus says sperms proceed from between the backbone and the ribs. This is wrong.  Even the eminent Pakistani scholar Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi and his disciple Dr. Khalid Zaheer accepted in a debate with Ali Sina that this is wrong as per the scientific knowledge now, but claimed that Science may change the facts as we know in future.

21- Quran 24:24 “On the day when their tongues and their hands and their feet testify against them as to what they used to do”

The limbs and organs of a human are controlled by the brain that conveys electrical signal through the nervous system. But the Quran believes that the limbs can talk and testify against the person, even though they would have no voice, memory or mind of their own. This is not a new mistake, the Quran is full of such mistakes thinking ‘Rocks’ have fear of God, Hills and Mountains have feelings etc.

22- Quran 41:21 “And they say unto their skins: Why testify ye against us? They say: Allah hath given us speech Who giveth speech to all things, and Who created you at the first, and unto Whom ye are returned.”

This verse says that skins will speak. This is another absurdity and a big mistake. Skins cannot speak on their own. This absurdity of non-living things speaking, or having emotions is repeated many times in the Quran, e.g. in 2:74 it is said that ‘Rocks fear God’, 41:11 says ‘Earth and Heaven talked to God’ etc.

23- Quran 2:65-66 “And ye know of those of you who broke the Sabbath, how We said unto them: Be ye apes, despised and hated! And We made it an example to their own and to succeeding generations, and an admonition to the Allah-fearing.”

Allah turned Sabbath-breaking Jews into apes to be despised and hated. Modern Jews are descendants of apes. This is an absurdity of course. This same thing is repeated in 5:60 which says that Allah has turned some Christians and Jews into apes and swine. Also in 7:166 where Allah turned men into apes.

24- Quran 2:243 “Bethink thee (O Muhammad) of those of old, who went forth from their habitations in their thousands, fearing death, and Allah said unto them: Die; and then He brought them back to life. Lo! Allah is a Lord of Kindness to mankind, but most of mankind give not thanks.”

This verse says dead people were brought back to life. This is a huge absurdity. If at all one would think dead people will rise before God to get their verdict of Eternal Heaven or Hell, will it not be on the Day of Judgment? How can people get 2 lives in this world before the Day of Judgment when Islam claims this life is the only life before the Day of Judgment? The same mistake is repeated in 2:259 where it is said that a man who had been dead for 100 years had been brought back to life.

25- Quran 2:245 “Who is it that will lend unto Allah a goodly loan, so that He may give it increase manifold? Allah straiteneth and enlargeth. Unto Him ye will return.”

Allah asks for a loan, promising to pay us back with interest. Allah straightens and enlarges whatever is bent or small. The concept of ‘giving Allah a loan’ is often repeated in the Quran. Clearly, such a God who needs a ‘loan’ is not Omnipotent. It is obvious that these are the words not of God, but of a man with a limited intelligence, who thought of ‘God needing a loan’. It is obvious that it is Muhammad who needed a loan to serve his own cause, and not God.

26- Quran 6:6 “See they not how many a generation We destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth more firmly than We have established you, and We shed on them abundant showers from the sky, and made the rivers flow beneath them. Yet we destroyed them for their sins, and created after them another generation.”

How could they (or anyone else who wasn’t there) see Allah destroy previous generations? A scholar has said that if God wants to talk to mankind, He revealing his statements to only one mortal man and depending on that man to reveal it to other mankind is improper. This is because it becomes heresay for other humans. Why should God rely on one mortal human to reveal His statements to other men? And how can other men rely on the mortal man?

Patricia Crone said: “It is a peculiar habit of God’s that when he wishes to reveal himself to mankind, he will communicate only with a single person. The rest of the mankind must learn the truth from that person and thus purchase their knowledge of the divine at the cost of subordination to another human being, who is eventually replaced by a human institution, so that the divine system remains under other people’s control.” [TLS, January 21, 1994, p 12]

Paine said: “But admitting for the sake of a case, that something has been revealed to a certain person, and not revealed to any other person, it is a revelation to that person only. When he tells it to a second person, a second to a third, a third to a fourth, and so on, it ceases to be revelation to all those persons. It is revelation to the first person only, and hearsay to every other, and consequently they are not obliged to believed it…When I am told that the Koran was written in heaven and brought to Mahomet by an angel, the account comes too near the same kind of hearsay evidence and second-hand authority as the former. I did not see the angel myself, and therefore, I have a right not to believe it.”

And indeed, as Ibn Warraq, the author of “Why I am not a Muslim” says (pp 130-131): “It is very odd that when God decides to manifest Himself, He does so to only one individual. Why can He not reveal Himself to the masses in a football stadium during the final of the World Cup, when literally millions of people around the world are watching?”

But here the Quran said: “Did you not see how we destroyed the previous generations?” when people of the current generation were not even born! How could they ‘see’ that? How would they know that they really existed and were destroyed by God in the past? If God wanted them to see how He destroys or destroyed people, He would have shown them that with their eyes.

27- Who was the first Muslim? Muhammad 6:14,163, Moses 7:143, some Egyptians 26:51, Abraham 2:127-133, 3:67 or was it Adam 2:37

This is a clear contradiction meaning that at least 4 out of these 5 must be wrong, and a book from God cannot contain even one mistake.

Muslim explanation: These people were the first Muslims “of their community” not humanity. This explanation is completely wrong since nowhere is it mentioned in the Quran that they were the first Muslims of their community. “Of their community” is invented by some Muslims to explain a clear contradiction. It is also a heinous sin to alter the words of the Quran, which those who are trying to explain this are doing.

28- Quran says that the ships run into the sea through the favour of God e.g. Quran 14:32, 17:66, 22:65, 30:46, 31:31, 36:41, 42:32, 45:12

It is opposed to true knowledge to say that the ships run into the sea through the favour of God when in reality they are propelled by machinery and by sailors. Would not the sign of God (a ship) sink if it was made of iron or stone? If a ship made of iron or stone was shown to run into the sea without sinking, one may have considered it as a ‘sign’ of God. Many ships not made of iron or stone also sink into the sea.

29-  Quran 38:75  “He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted?

This shows that the God of the Quran was two-handed person. He cannot, therefore, be Omnipresent and Omnipotent. This also shows the limited intelligence of the author of the Quran, not only was he not God, he was also not a very intelligent human, but was a man of limited intelligence, who let slip in his mistaken thought that God has only two hands.

30- Who takes the souls at death: The Angel of Death 32:11, THE angels (plural) 47:27 or Allah 39:42? This is a clear contradiction.

Muslim explanation: All the above are Beings who take souls to God, to whom the souls ultimately reach. The ‘Angel’ or ‘Angels’ of death do it on behalf of God i.e. Allah only. Of course, this is a desperate attempt to explain a clear contradiction, since if it was so in a book claimed as “clear book” (5:15) “easy to understand” (44:58 , 54:22 , 54:32, 54:40) “explained in detail” (6:114), “conveyed clearly”, (5:16, 10:15) and with “no doubt” in it (2:1), it would have been clearly explained directly why 3 different Beings are named on 3 different occasions as taking the souls at death. Is it that in some instances only one Angel takes them, in some instances many Angels, and in some instances Allah? Or is it that on all occasions Angels take them but bring them to Allah on His orders? This is of course a clear contradiction with no explanation provided in the Quran, meaning it is a clear mistake.

The case against Islam is not limited to its record of intolerance, aggression, persecution and barbarity, practices like sex-slavery and its open doctrine of convert or kill (Quran 9:5). Quite apart from its violent nature, self-righteousness and its anti-national attitudes, Islam is reprehensible for the simple  and more universal reason that it is not true.

Even after seeing clear mistakes revealing Islam as false, many Muslims stick to it giving absurd and far-fetched explanations merely for the fear of Hell and hope or rather, mirage of Paradise. The Muslims need to realize that if they stick to Islam despite knowing it is false, and despite seeing the mistakes of the Quran, they will go to Hell, not Heaven. That will not be for merely following a false prophet and a false religion, but for attributing insanity to God (calling God as Jealous), despite knowing the mistakes of the Quran. And of course, there is penalty of death to apostates given in Islam!
