Paradise (i.e. Jannat)- a Mirage for Muslims

Islam visualizes the existence of Jannat (Paradise) which is full of lust, worldly and sensuous pleasures. The idea of Paradise was mainly to lure the then Arabs and Bedouins living under extremely dry environment, devoid of worldly pleasures. Prophet Muhammad- an extremely intelligent, a great visionary and a practical man, realized that to materialize his narcissistic dream he needed to incite them for his theo political objective.

Since the inception of Islam thousands of Muslim youths have been brainwashed and lured by the incredible lustful description of heavenly houries, wine, delicious foods and luxurious life in Paradise. In Islam, Allah first creates Jannat and then declares achieving it as the highest goal of life. "Only one who is admitted to the Garden (Paradise) will have attained the object of life" (3:187). Then assures Paradise as a reward to a martyr of Jihad, where he will be wedded with seventy-two virgin houries and will also be able to intercede for seventy of his relations for Paradise.  Attempt is made here to examine: 1) Who is eligible for Paradise 2) Whether a martyr can intercede for any one else and 3) Whether he can enter into Paradise immediately, after bring martyred.

       Eligibility of Paradise

First of all the question arises who is eligible for Paradise and how can it be achieved? according to Quran and Hadiths, the Islamic Paradise can be achieved by four types of persons:

1)  One who has accepted Islam as his religion i.e. he must be a Muslim only and not of any other religion.
2)  He should have complete faith only in Allah and Muhammad as His Messenger, and in whatever has been commanded in Quran and Hadiths and has acted accordingly while performing righteous deeds throughout his life.
3) One who has cheerfully sold his life and property for waging Jihad in the Way of Allah and fighting against the non-Muslims in exchange of the eternal pleasures of Paradise. And if killed during waging Jihad, he would become a martyr and will have several other special privileges in addition to achieving Paradise.
4) One who may not be directly participating in Jihad, but if associated with any of the activities of Jihad like, motivating, recruiting and training a person for Jihad, equipping him with war materials, supporting financially various Jihadi activities, looking after the family of that who has gone for Jihad till he returns back and even one who is intensely and mentally keen to participate in Jihad though he stays at home.

All persons of the above categories are fully eligible for entry and pleasures of Paradise. But amongst these a martyr will have the highest rank. In short, both Allah and Prophet Muhammad, appear so keen to entice and allure maximum numbers of their followers for waging Jihad against the non-Muslims and spread of Islam that they are prepared to grant Paradise to anyone associated with any trivial activity concerning Jihad. (For details see our Jihad and Jannat in Hadiths).

     Special Privileges of a martyr

In the realm of Islam, a martyr has the highest rank and has been provided several special privileges in the Hadiths as below:

i.  Miqdam b. Made kareb reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "A martyr has in the sight of Allah six characteristics:

1) He forgives him at the first gush
2)He will directly go to Paradise
3)He is delivered from the torment of the grave; he is safe from the great alarm (fear)
4)He is made to wear the garment of Faith
5)He will be married to seventy two wives of large dark eyed virgins (of Paradise) and
6)His intercession for seventy persons of his kith and kin will be granted."
(Majah, Vol 4: 2799, p 159; Mishkat, Vol 2: 44, p 352,Tirmizi)

ii. Abu al Darda reported the Apostle of Allah saying: "The intercession of a martyr will be accepted for seventy members of his family". (Dawud, Vol 2: 2516, p 699)

Here, out of these six privileges, we are examining only two claims: one that a martyr can intercede for his seventy relations and second he will not have to wait in his grave till the Day of Judgement (Qiyamat) and will enter into Paradise immediately.

Can a Martyr Intercede for Others

It is widely publicized amongst the Muslims that on the Day of Judgement, a martyr will have the privilege to intercede for seventy of his relatives i.e. he can recommend Paradise for them and Allah will accept his recommendations. (Dawud, Vol 2: 2516)

Authority of Intercession rests with Allah Only

An in-depth scrutiny and critical analysis of the Islamic scriptures reveals that on the Day of Judgement only Allah will be the Supreme Master and Judge, and none else; and there will be no intercession, as Islam believes in true justice. In this context Quran says:

(a) "(Allah is the) Master of the Day of Judgement." (Chapter 1, Verse 4)
(b) "O ye who believe! Spend out of (the bounties) we have provided for you, before the Day comes when no bargaining (will avail), nor friendship, nor intercession." (Chapter 2, Verse 254)
(c) "Ye have none, besides Him, to protect or intercede (for you)." (Chapter 32, Verse 4)
(d) Say, "To Allah belongs exclusively (the right to grant) intercession." (Chapter 39, Verse 44)
(e) "Give this warning to those in whose (hearts) is the fear that they will be brought (to judgement) before their Lord: except for Him they will have neither protector nor intercessor: that they may guard (against evil)." (Chapter 6, Verse 51)
(f)  "It will find for itself no protector or intercessor except Allah." (Chapter 6, Verse 70)
(g) "Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them." (Chapter 74, Verse 48)
(h) "Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us)." (Chapter 26, Verse 100)
(i) "No intercessor will they have among their partners, and they will themselves reject their partners." (Chapter 30, Verse 13)
(j) "Whether you ask for their forgiveness, or not (their sin is unforgivable): if you ask seventy times for their forgiveness, Allah will not forgive them." (Chapter 9, Verse 80)

The above Quranic injunctions clearly show that on the Day of Judgement only Allah will be the Supreme Judge; and He will decide the fate of every Muslim strictly according to his/her deeds as found in Allah's records (36:12), with no forgiveness; and will there be no intercession and no intercessor, even the Prophet.

This concept is quite rational and reasonable as Islam believes in full justice to one and all equally; and it strongly negates the doctrine of intercession because it is a form of gross violation and deviation from the path of justice; and is also a great source of injustice. If intercession is accepted by Allah, then all crooks, criminals and con-men who may be relatives of a martyr, will be eligible for Paradise. Thus the doctrine of intercession will be an insult of Allah- the Just God.

    Intercession by Allah's Permission

But to our great surprise, there are some ayats in Quran which reflect that the same Just Allah discriminately allows intercession in case of those whom He pleases as below:

(a) "No intercessor (can plead with Him) except after his leave (has been obtained)." (Chapter 10, Verse 3)
(b) "On that day shall no intercession avail except for those for whom permission has been granted by the Most Gracious and whose word is acceptable to Him." (Chapter 20, Verse 109)
(c) "No intercession can avail with Him, except for those for whom He has granted permission." (Chapter 34, Verse 23)
(d) "How many- so-ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him." (Chapter 53, Verse 26)
(e) "None shall have the power of intercession but such a one has received permission (or promise) from (Allah) Most Gracious." (Chapter 19, Verse 87)

In the above ayats Allah takes a new twist, contradicts Himself and allows intercession by those whom He pleases and permits intercession. But here also, He does not specify and person and category of people whom this privilege is granted. It is not any soul; and is neither any indication of Prophet Muhammad nor of the Martyrs. But this sort of contradiction and authority of Allah is nothing new as we find several deviations and self-contradictions in the Quran.

   Prophet Muhammad was Denied Intercession

Probably on the basis of the above ayats, Muhammad hoped to get permission, and will then be the first intercessor on the Day of Judgement. But Allah does not seem to oblige His Messenger to intercede for his own family members. In a Hadith, Muhammad claims: "I will be the first intercessor and the first (person) whose intercession will be accepted (by Allah)." (Sahih Muslim Vol 1 : 5655, p 1478). But in this same Hadith -Sahih Muslim, Muhammad himself accepts that his intercession was not accepted fully even for his mother (Amina) and his all life protector, uncle Abu Talib (who did not accept Muhammad's religion until the end) as below:

(a) The Prophet said: "I (Muhammad) sought permission (of Allah) to beg forgiveness for my mother, but He did not grant it...(permission) to me." (Sahih Muslim, Vol 2: 2129, p 557)

(b) Naarrated by Abbas b. Abd-al-Muttalib that he said: "Messenger of Allah, have you benefited Abu Talib in anyway for defended you and was fervent in your defense?" The Prophet said: "Yes: he would be in the most shallow part to fire: and but for me he would have been in the lowest part of Hell." (Sahih Muslim Vol 1: 408, pp 166-167).

Thus Prophet's intercession was not fully accepted by Allah and the Prophet could not save his own mother and fatherly uncle from the Hell-Fire. It is because the Prophet knew that he had no power of his own as evident from the Quran below:

    (a) "I have no power over any good or harm to myself except as Allah willeth. If I had the knowledge of the Unseen, I should have multiplied all good, and no evil should have touched me." (Chapter 7, Verse 188 of the Holy Quran)

   (b) The Messenger of Allah said, "O People of Quarish! Buy yourself from Allah, I cannot avail you at all against Allah: O sons of Abd al-Muttalib, I cannot avail you at all against Allah: O Abbas b Abd al Muttalib I cannot avail you at all against Allah. O Sahiya (aunt of the Messenger of Allah) I cannot avail you at all against Allah; O Fatima, daughter of Muhammad, ask me whatever you like, but I cannot avail you at all against Allah." (Sahih Muslim, Vol 1: 402, p 165)

Despite this, the Prophet assures his seven thousand (7000) Ummah to intercede for them provided Allah approved his request and he would be the first for this purpose as below:

(i) The Prophet said, "There is for every apostle a prayer which is granted, but every Prophet showed haste in his prayer. I have, however, however reserved my prayer for the intercession of my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection and it would be granted if Allah so willed in case of everyone amongst my Ummah provided he dies without associating anything with Allah." (Sahih Muslim Vol 1: 389, p 162)
(ii) The Prophet said, "Seventy thousand people of my Ummah would be admitted into Paradise without rendering any account. They (the companions) said: Who would be those (fortunate persons)? He (the Holy Prophet) said, "Those who do not cauterize and practice charm but repose trust in their Lord." (Sahih Muslim Vol. 1: 422, pp 169-170).
(iii) The Prophet said, "I would be the first among people to intercede in the Paradise and amongst the apostles I would have the largest following (on the Day of Resurrection)". (Sahih Muslim Vol 1: 381, p 161)

From the above hadiths it can be broadly concluded that:
1) Intercession even of Prophet Muhammad was not accepted by Allah and will not be accepted of anybody else without the approval of Allah

2) However, if approved by Allah, the Messenger of Allah will be the first person whose intercession will be accepted and not of anybody else; and that too will be on the Day of Judgement and not before it.

3) Intercession of a martyr, even if approved by Allah, will be accepted after Muhammad on the Day of Judgement and not before it.

It is neither surprising nor illogical, if Prophet Muhammad's intercession was not accepted by Just Allah, before the Day of Judgement because as per our studies of the Quran, Allah had not allowed the permission and authority to Muhammad to intercede in his personal matter and also those of his relatives and followers including the martyrs. And it is quite rational and logical as per the doctrine of Justice in Islam. Yet the Muslim apologists go on harping on the intercessory powers of Prophet Muhammad and the jehadi martyrs.

In Quran, no forgiveness is enjoined to anybody but in a Hadith Prophet Muhammad is claimed to seek forgiveness for himself from Allah.

"Aisha reported that Allah's Messenger at the time of breathing his last was reclining against her chest and she was learning over him and listening to him as he was saying: O Allah, grant me pardon, show mercy to me, enjoin me to companions (on High)" (Sahih Muslim Vol 4: 5986, p 1564)

In this context Anwar Shaikh rightly comments: "It is obvious that a person who himself needs mercy and begs for it, is in no position to intercede for others." (Islamic Jihad  by Anwar Shaikh, page 72). It may not be lost sight of the fact that Muhammad was also a man and a mortal. he lived like a man and died as a man and was buried like a common man in his grave. The Quran says: "Truly you will die (one day), and truly they (too) will die (one day). In the End will you (all) dispute on the Day of Judgement in the presence of your Lord?" (Chapter 39, verses 30-31)

Not only this, he is subject to God's punishment like all other mortals while quoting Quran, Anwar Shaikh writes, "Set not up with God another God, or you (Muhammad) will be cast into Gehenna (hell), reproached and condemned." (Chapter 17,Verse 39 of the Quran quoted in Islam and Human Rights by Anwar Shaikh, p 73) This indicates that Prophet Muhammad will also be judged and resurrected like any common man and therefore, he will have no intercessory authority, what to say of a martyr.

Can a Martyr Enter Paradise Immediately?

The Quran is silent on this issue except when it says:
1) "Think not of those who are slain in Allah's cause as dead, Nay, they are alive, finding sustenance in the presence of their Lord." (Chapter 3, Verse 169)
2) And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead". May they are living though you perceive it not." (Chapter 2 Verse 154).

This is ambiguous in several respects.

However according to the Hadith referred earlier (Majah 4: 2799) a martyr will have not to wait in his grave; and is shown his abode in Paradise only. Thus he does not enter into the Paradise immediately but is shown his abode therein.

Further a close examination of various hadiths indicates that a martyr and even the Prophet will have to wait till the Day of Judgement as below:

a. The Messenger of Allah said: The first group will enter Paradise on the Resurrection Day with shining faces like the brightness of the moon in the full moon light and the second group like mot shining and resplendent star in the firmament." (Mishkat, Vol 4: 23, p 167)
b. Sulaiman b. Yasar heard the Prophet saying: "The first of men (whose case) will be decided on the Day of Judgement will be a man who died as a martyr." (Sahih Muslim Vol 3: 4688, p 1270)
c. Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah said, "Surely the first men who will be brought for the Judgement on the Resurrection Day will be one who was (well known as) a martyr. He will be brought and be reminded of favors on him, which he will recognize. Then he will ask, what did you do therein? He will reply: I fought for you till I was martyr. (Mishkat Vol 1 : 114 page 411)
d. Imam Muslim writes, "Ibn Umar reported that Allah's Apostle said: 'When a person dies, he is shown his seat in morning and evening. If he is one among the inmates of Paradise, he is shown his seat in Paradise and if he is amongst the denizens of Hell Fire, he is shown his seat in Hell-Fire. Then it is said to him "That is your seat where you be sent on the Day of Resurrection."'" (Sahih Muslim, Vol 4: 6858 page 1795)
e. The Prophet said, "Amongst the apostles, I would have the largest following on the Day of Judgement and I would be the first to knock at the door of Paradise." (Sahih Muslim Vol 1: 382, p 181)
f. The Messenger of Allah said, "I will come to the gate of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection and would seek its opening, and the keeper would say: 'Who are you?' I would say: 'Muhammad.' He would then say 'It is for you that I have been ordered and not to open it for anyone before you.' " (Sahih Muslim Vol 1: 384, page 161)

All the above hadiths clearly confirm that:

1) Even the first batch of martyrs and inmates of Paradise will enter on the Day of Judgement
2) The martyrs will be shown only their place in Paradise but they would enter only on the Day of Judgement, and not immediately
3) Prophet Muhammad will be the first person to reach at the gate of Paradise which will not be opened to anybody else before him
4) Even he will also have to wait till the Day of Judgement. Hence no martyr will enter immediately after martyrdom and will enter only after Muhammad on the Day of Judgement.

Now the question arises: How long a devout Muslim or a martyr will have to wait for Paradise? The Muslims of early Islamic period became impatient to know from Prophet Muhammad the exact time when the Day of Judgment would be. In this context the Quran says: "They ask you (Muhammad) about the final Hour- when will be it appointed time? Say (O Muhammad): The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone); none but He can reveal as to when it will occur: Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth, only, all of a sudden will it come to you." (Chapter 7, Verse 187).

Thus Prophet Muhammad expressed his ignorance about the time of Day of Judgement. However, the Quran and Hadiths describe the various damaging and alarming conditions in the world and moral degradation in people, but give no exact time of the Day of Judgement. In short, it will be sudden.

Hence, there is the complete uncertainty about the exact date and time of Day of Judgement and so is the uncertainty of getting Paradise by a martyr and a pious Muslim; and till that time, all Muslims will remain buried in their graves.

Surprisingly this idea has a resemblance with the idea of the Day of Judgement of Christianity where Jesus also did not know the exact Day of Judgement. Bible says, "But of the Day of Judgement and the Hours knoweth no man, not the angels which are in the Heaven, neither the Son (Jesus), but the Father." (Mark 13: 32-33)

Besides this there is another problem due to the explanation given by the Prophet of the Quranic Ayats (3:169) on martyrdom referred earlier. In this context Imam Muslim writes in his Hadith:

"The followers asked the meaning of the Ayat: 'Think not those who are slain in of their Lord...." (3:169). The Prophet said: "The souls of the martyrs live in the bodies of green birds who have their nests in chandeliers hung from the throne of the Almighty. They eat fruits of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in the chandeliers. Once their Lord asked them, "Do you want anything?"....Then Lord asked them the same question thrice, then they said: "O Lord! We wish that you may return our souls to our bodies so that we may be slain in Your way once again."  (Sahih Muslim Vol 3, No 4651, p 1261) In the note no 2345 of this Hadith the editor explains that this idea of the soul in the body of the bird is found in Jewish Encyclopedia as "The souls of righteous live like birds in cages guarded by angels. The souls of the martyrs have a special place in Heaven." (Vol VI, p 566).

While commenting on this topic Serge Trifkovic writes:
"The reports both in the Quran and the Hadith concerning Paradise, the houris, and the silk-adorned youths, the jinn and the angel of death have been directly taken from the ancient books of the Zoroastrians." (W. St. Clair Tisdall, Sources of Islam). "The Persians have also originated the story that on the Day of Judgement all people will have to cross a bridge stretched across hell leading to Paradise, on which the unbelievers will stumble and fall". (The Sword of the Prophet by Serge Trifkovic , p 70)

If, according to Prophet Muhammad, "The souls of martyrs live in the bodies of green birds", then how can a martyr become a youth of 33 years with virility of 100 men to enjoy seventy-two maidens provided so generously to each inmate of the Paradise?

   Conclusions

The aforementioned evidences lead us to conclude that on the Day of Judgement there would be no intercession and no one can intercede except Allah, and neither Muhammad nor any angel or martyr, of Jihad is authorized to intercede for any one for Paradise. It is so because intercession is totally against the basic doctrine of Justice in Islam. And yet this is contradicted many times in the Hadiths and also in the Quran as we have seen. So when the Quran and the Hadiths themselves cant properly tell what exactly is the scope of Intercession, then how can one assume that Islam is true?

Moreover, even if we presume for a moment that Allah may permit intercession to whoever He pleases, it is not likely to be executed before the Day of Judgement whose time is unknown even to the Prophet, and only Allah knows. hence intercession is quite uncertain. Further Allah, in Quran does not specify that he would authorize a martyr of Jihad to intercede for his seventy relatives as claimed in Hadith. Therefore possession of intercedary powers by a martyr or any human soul is unfounded and is a myth as the Quran explicitly says:  "It will be the Day when no soul shall have power to do aught for another: for command that Day will be wholly with Allah." (Chapter 82, Verse 19). Hence claiming any sort of intercession by a martyr of Jihad is not only against the basic commands of Quran but is also an insult of Allah- the Lord of Justice.

Further the Hadiths confirm that a martyr will be shown only his seat in Paradise but his entry will be only after the Prophet on the Day of Judgement (Qiyamat) and not immediately. Till that day he will have to wait in his grave. Since the time and date of Day of Judgement is quite uncertain and unknown, so is the entry of a martyr, a Jihadi an Islamist or a righteous Muslim into Paradise in uncertain. Hence Paradise is a MIRAGE for the Muslims. Note how many contradictions we have seen in all this- having zero intercession powers at times, partial intercession and whole intercession (for Muhammad only). From all these mistakes and contradictions it should be very obvious that JANNAT IS A MIRAGE.

Actually the gullible Muslim youths are brainwashed and are victims of the Islamists and if they could understand the truth of these Hadiths, they can be saved from a great disaster. This is why Philosopher E Renan says that: "Muslims are the first victims of Islam. Many times I have observed in my travels in the Orient, that fanaticism comes from a small number of dangerous men who maintain the others in the practice of religion by terror. The best service that one can render a Muslim, is to liberate him from his religion". (Quoted in Why I am not a Muslim by Ibn Warraq)

Mistakes in the Quran which prove Islam is false (Part II)

Continued from “Mistakes in the Quran which prove Islam is false (Part I)”

All we need to prove that the Quran is not from God is one error. A book from God cannot contain even one mistake, and even if a book contains no error, it is no proof that it is from God, since even a human can write a book without any mistake. We saw 15 such major mistakes of the Quran in Part I. Let us see a few more here. We must also remember and repeat here that faithful believers go to any level to bend all rules of logic to deny the undeniable, defend the indefensible and explain the unexplainable. There should not be a need to explain contradictions in a ‘clear book’. The best answer to show that the Quran must not be interpreted in any other way than its obvious meaning comes from the Quran itself. The Quran repeatedly claims to be a “clear book” (5:15) “easy to understand” (44:58 , 54:22 , 54:32, 54:40) “explained in detail” (6:114), “conveyed clearly”, (5:16, 10:15) and with “no doubt” in it (2:1). For such a book, if errors and contradictions appear to be obvious, then the book itself should clarify the explanations- human explanations to clarify clear contradictions reveal that the book needs human interpretations to understand.

16-  Quran 84:1-5 “When the heaven is split asunder and attentive to her Lord in fear, And when the earth is spread out And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty  And attentive to her Lord in fear!”

Thus the verses 84:2 and 84:5 of the Quran say that Heaven and Earth fear God. Both Heaven and Earth are of course, non-living things who do not have any emotions, and they cannot be ‘attentive to God’ like living beings could be.

17-  Quran 29:14:And verily we sent Noah (as Our messenger) unto his folk, and he continued with them for a thousand years save fifty years; and the flood engulfed them, for they were wrong-doers.”

This verse 29:14 thus says Noah lived for at least 950 years. He actually preached as a messenger unto his folk for 950 years, meaning he lived for more years than that. This is of course, an absurdity since ‘Prophets’ are considered as mere mortal messengers of God with absolutely no superpowers. Ordinary human beings cannot live for 950 years, and this is a big blunder, a fairy-tale sort of description of the Quran. If the oldest known humans now cannot live for more than 120-125 years, there is no way humans of the past could live for as many as 950 years. The ‘best and last of God’s prophets’ i.e. Muhammad could not live more than 62 years of age. This is also mentioned in the Bible of course in Genesis 9:28-29 that Noah lived for a total of 950 years and then died. In the Quran, only his preaching time is mentioned as 950 years with no further information on how many years he lived before he became a Prophet, and how many years later he died after his preaching ended.

18- Quran 10:5, 25:61 and 71:16 say that the moon has light, whereas in reality the moon does not have light of its own, and simply reflects the light of the sun. This information (that the moon simply reflects the sun’s light) was known since at least 1,000 years before the time of Muhammad. Quran 10:5 says: “He it is Who appointed the sun a splendour and the moon a light, and measured for her stages, that ye might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah created not (all) that save in truth. He detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge.” Quran 71:16 says “And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp?”. Quran 25:61 says, “Blessed be He Who hath placed in the heaven mansions of the stars, and hath placed therein a great lamp and a moon giving light!

Muslim explanation: Some Muslims, desperate to explain the mistake, like Dr. Zakir Naik lie, “The Arabic word for moon is ‘qamar’ and the light described there is ‘muneer’ which is borrowed light, or ‘noor’ which is a reflection of light.” Dr. Naik insists that the Quran makes it clear that the light of the Moon is borrowed light and to prove that, he claims ‘nur’ means reflection. This is a blatant lie. Nur is not borrowed light nor reflection. It is light. Munir also does not mean borrowed light. It means ‘luminous’.  There are many verses in the Quran where the words nur and Munir are used and they cannot be interpreted as borrowed light. Eg 2:257 (“He bringeth them out of darkness into light”), 6:91 (“Moses brought, a light and guidance for mankind”), 4:174, 5:15, 5:44, 5:46, 6:1, 6:122, 7:157, 9:32, 13:16, 14:1, 14:5, 64:8, 33:46, 35:20, 39:69 and many others, which by no stretch of imagination can mean ‘borrowed light’ but simply mean ‘light’.

This knowledge, of course, was known to the ancient Greek astronomers at least 1,000 years before Muhammad, and can hardly be called miraculous knowledge. For example when Aristotle (384-322 B.C.) discussed the shape of the earth he was clear that the moon’s light is only reflected light of the sun.

Some Muslims claim that since the Quran uses different words speaking about the light of the sun and the light of the moon, it reveals that the sun is a source of light, while the moon only reflects light. Why would the Quran just use different nouns, calling the moon “a light” and the sun “a lamp”, to show this truth? If the author of the Quran wanted to convey this meaning, why did he simply not say: “The moon’s light is only a reflection from the light of the sun, and the Moon does not have its own light”? Simple and clear! The words for “light” and “sun” are used many times in the Quran and there is an Arabic word for reflection (in`ikaas) which is not used to described the Moon’s light.

The Quran repeatedly claims to be a “clear book” (5:15) “easy to understand” (44:58, 54:22 , 54:32, 54:40) “explained in detail” (6:114), “conveyed clearly”, (5:16, 10:15) and with “no doubt” in it (2:1). For such a book, if an error as blatant as ‘Moon having light’ would seem to be in it, then the book itself would state clearly ‘Moon does not have its own light’. This is a big mistake of the Quran saying the moon is a light, whereas in reality it has no light of its own.

19- Quran 18.86:Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu’l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.” The sun thus sets in a muddy spring according to the Quran. The Sun of course, doesn’t ‘set’ in any specific place anywhere.

Muslim explanation: Showmen like Dr Zakir Naik lie that “the Arabic word used here is wajada meaning, it appeared to Zulqarnain. Wajada means ‘it appeared.’ Allah is describing what appeared to Zulqarnain.”

Wajada means “found”, not “appeared”. All the ten translators of the Quran that we consult have translated this word as found. URL. Dr. Naik simply lies. The verse 18:85 says: “And he followed a road. Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found (wajada) it setting in a muddy spring, and found (wajada) a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu’l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.”

The word wajada is used twice. Are we supposed to understand that the people whom he saw were not real but also an apparition? How could he reward and punish such imaginary people? Again we find the same word in the same sura:

18:92-93 Then followed he (another) way, Until, when he reached (a tract) between two mountains, he found, (wajada)  beneath them, a people who scarcely understood a word.

In two other verses wajada is used which cannot mean ‘appeared’ but  only can mean ‘found’:
3:37 And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a goodly growth; and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found (wajada) that she had food.
28:23 And when he came unto the water of Midian he found (wajada) there a whole tribe of men, watering.

People like Zakir Naik lie and shift the blame on Zulqranain and say it is not the fault of Allah for saying what Zulqranain had mistakenly assumed. If so, why Allah did not make it clear that Zulqranain had made a mistake? Since in those days everyone thought that the Earth is flat, this was the perfect chance for Allah to set the record straight and clarify that Zulqranain was mistaken because the Sun does not set in waters; it is the Earth that is rotating making you think it is rising and setting. Nowhere in the entire Quran is it said ‘The earth rotates around itself’. On the contrary, the earth is described as ‘flat’. Can the Creator of the Earth be unaware of its shape?

20-  Quran 86:6-7  He is created from a drop emitted- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs…”

The Quran thus says sperms proceed from between the backbone and the ribs. This is wrong.  Even the eminent Pakistani scholar Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi and his disciple Dr. Khalid Zaheer accepted in a debate with Ali Sina that this is wrong as per the scientific knowledge now, but claimed that Science may change the facts as we know in future.

21- Quran 24:24 “On the day when their tongues and their hands and their feet testify against them as to what they used to do”

The limbs and organs of a human are controlled by the brain that conveys electrical signal through the nervous system. But the Quran believes that the limbs can talk and testify against the person, even though they would have no voice, memory or mind of their own. This is not a new mistake, the Quran is full of such mistakes thinking ‘Rocks’ have fear of God, Hills and Mountains have feelings etc.

22- Quran 41:21 “And they say unto their skins: Why testify ye against us? They say: Allah hath given us speech Who giveth speech to all things, and Who created you at the first, and unto Whom ye are returned.”

This verse says that skins will speak. This is another absurdity and a big mistake. Skins cannot speak on their own. This absurdity of non-living things speaking, or having emotions is repeated many times in the Quran, e.g. in 2:74 it is said that ‘Rocks fear God’, 41:11 says ‘Earth and Heaven talked to God’ etc.

23- Quran 2:65-66 “And ye know of those of you who broke the Sabbath, how We said unto them: Be ye apes, despised and hated! And We made it an example to their own and to succeeding generations, and an admonition to the Allah-fearing.”

Allah turned Sabbath-breaking Jews into apes to be despised and hated. Modern Jews are descendants of apes. This is an absurdity of course. This same thing is repeated in 5:60 which says that Allah has turned some Christians and Jews into apes and swine. Also in 7:166 where Allah turned men into apes.

24- Quran 2:243 “Bethink thee (O Muhammad) of those of old, who went forth from their habitations in their thousands, fearing death, and Allah said unto them: Die; and then He brought them back to life. Lo! Allah is a Lord of Kindness to mankind, but most of mankind give not thanks.”

This verse says dead people were brought back to life. This is a huge absurdity. If at all one would think dead people will rise before God to get their verdict of Eternal Heaven or Hell, will it not be on the Day of Judgment? How can people get 2 lives in this world before the Day of Judgment when Islam claims this life is the only life before the Day of Judgment? The same mistake is repeated in 2:259 where it is said that a man who had been dead for 100 years had been brought back to life.

25- Quran 2:245 “Who is it that will lend unto Allah a goodly loan, so that He may give it increase manifold? Allah straiteneth and enlargeth. Unto Him ye will return.”

Allah asks for a loan, promising to pay us back with interest. Allah straightens and enlarges whatever is bent or small. The concept of ‘giving Allah a loan’ is often repeated in the Quran. Clearly, such a God who needs a ‘loan’ is not Omnipotent. It is obvious that these are the words not of God, but of a man with a limited intelligence, who thought of ‘God needing a loan’. It is obvious that it is Muhammad who needed a loan to serve his own cause, and not God.

26- Quran 6:6 “See they not how many a generation We destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth more firmly than We have established you, and We shed on them abundant showers from the sky, and made the rivers flow beneath them. Yet we destroyed them for their sins, and created after them another generation.”

How could they (or anyone else who wasn’t there) see Allah destroy previous generations? A scholar has said that if God wants to talk to mankind, He revealing his statements to only one mortal man and depending on that man to reveal it to other mankind is improper. This is because it becomes heresay for other humans. Why should God rely on one mortal human to reveal His statements to other men? And how can other men rely on the mortal man?

Patricia Crone said: “It is a peculiar habit of God’s that when he wishes to reveal himself to mankind, he will communicate only with a single person. The rest of the mankind must learn the truth from that person and thus purchase their knowledge of the divine at the cost of subordination to another human being, who is eventually replaced by a human institution, so that the divine system remains under other people’s control.” [TLS, January 21, 1994, p 12]

Paine said: “But admitting for the sake of a case, that something has been revealed to a certain person, and not revealed to any other person, it is a revelation to that person only. When he tells it to a second person, a second to a third, a third to a fourth, and so on, it ceases to be revelation to all those persons. It is revelation to the first person only, and hearsay to every other, and consequently they are not obliged to believed it…When I am told that the Koran was written in heaven and brought to Mahomet by an angel, the account comes too near the same kind of hearsay evidence and second-hand authority as the former. I did not see the angel myself, and therefore, I have a right not to believe it.”

And indeed, as Ibn Warraq, the author of “Why I am not a Muslim” says (pp 130-131): “It is very odd that when God decides to manifest Himself, He does so to only one individual. Why can He not reveal Himself to the masses in a football stadium during the final of the World Cup, when literally millions of people around the world are watching?”

But here the Quran said: “Did you not see how we destroyed the previous generations?” when people of the current generation were not even born! How could they ‘see’ that? How would they know that they really existed and were destroyed by God in the past? If God wanted them to see how He destroys or destroyed people, He would have shown them that with their eyes.

27- Who was the first Muslim? Muhammad 6:14,163, Moses 7:143, some Egyptians 26:51, Abraham 2:127-133, 3:67 or was it Adam 2:37

This is a clear contradiction meaning that at least 4 out of these 5 must be wrong, and a book from God cannot contain even one mistake.

Muslim explanation: These people were the first Muslims “of their community” not humanity. This explanation is completely wrong since nowhere is it mentioned in the Quran that they were the first Muslims of their community. “Of their community” is invented by some Muslims to explain a clear contradiction. It is also a heinous sin to alter the words of the Quran, which those who are trying to explain this are doing.

28- Quran says that the ships run into the sea through the favour of God e.g. Quran 14:32, 17:66, 22:65, 30:46, 31:31, 36:41, 42:32, 45:12

It is opposed to true knowledge to say that the ships run into the sea through the favour of God when in reality they are propelled by machinery and by sailors. Would not the sign of God (a ship) sink if it was made of iron or stone? If a ship made of iron or stone was shown to run into the sea without sinking, one may have considered it as a ‘sign’ of God. Many ships not made of iron or stone also sink into the sea.

29-  Quran 38:75  “He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted?

This shows that the God of the Quran was two-handed person. He cannot, therefore, be Omnipresent and Omnipotent. This also shows the limited intelligence of the author of the Quran, not only was he not God, he was also not a very intelligent human, but was a man of limited intelligence, who let slip in his mistaken thought that God has only two hands.

30- Who takes the souls at death: The Angel of Death 32:11, THE angels (plural) 47:27 or Allah 39:42? This is a clear contradiction.

Muslim explanation: All the above are Beings who take souls to God, to whom the souls ultimately reach. The ‘Angel’ or ‘Angels’ of death do it on behalf of God i.e. Allah only. Of course, this is a desperate attempt to explain a clear contradiction, since if it was so in a book claimed as “clear book” (5:15) “easy to understand” (44:58 , 54:22 , 54:32, 54:40) “explained in detail” (6:114), “conveyed clearly”, (5:16, 10:15) and with “no doubt” in it (2:1), it would have been clearly explained directly why 3 different Beings are named on 3 different occasions as taking the souls at death. Is it that in some instances only one Angel takes them, in some instances many Angels, and in some instances Allah? Or is it that on all occasions Angels take them but bring them to Allah on His orders? This is of course a clear contradiction with no explanation provided in the Quran, meaning it is a clear mistake.

The case against Islam is not limited to its record of intolerance, aggression, persecution and barbarity, practices like sex-slavery and its open doctrine of convert or kill (Quran 9:5). Quite apart from its violent nature, self-righteousness and its anti-national attitudes, Islam is reprehensible for the simple  and more universal reason that it is not true.

Even after seeing clear mistakes revealing Islam as false, many Muslims stick to it giving absurd and far-fetched explanations merely for the fear of Hell and hope or rather, mirage of Paradise. The Muslims need to realize that if they stick to Islam despite knowing it is false, and despite seeing the mistakes of the Quran, they will go to Hell, not Heaven. That will not be for merely following a false prophet and a false religion, but for attributing insanity to God (calling God as Jealous), despite knowing the mistakes of the Quran. And of course, there is penalty of death to apostates given in Islam!

Mistakes in the Quran which prove Islam is false (Part I)

All we need to prove that the Quran is not from God is one error. A book from God cannot contain even one mistake, and even if a book contains no error, it is no proof that it is from God, since even a human can write a book without any mistake. Every single sentence in the Quran can be explained from Muhammad’s own socio-cultural background, just like any perfectly human product. Since 2001, Ali Sina has announced an award of US $ 50,000 for anyone who can find in the Quran a single sentence which proves by its contents that the Almighty had dictated it, or proves that Muhammad was a Messenger of God, or even disproves any of the dozen allegations made on Muhammad by him. Till now, no one has ever collected the prize in more than 16 years. Islam stands or falls with Muhammad’s prophet-hood.

Allah is supposed to be omniscient. For such a Being it should be very easy to demonstrate some knowledge which is beyond the reach of ordinary human beings like Mohammed, say, being able in 620 AD to predict the events of 2000 AD, or to give the then-unknown chemical formula of water, or to write a then-unknown language including modern Arabic. This would not be proof of omniscience yet, but at least proof that the Quran is not the handiwork of an ordinary mortal; but nothing of the sort is done in the Quran. Moreover, the Quran contains many contradictions and mistakes, both in terms of modern physical and medical knowledge and in terms of its references to Biblical characters and events, e.g. saying that Samaritans lived at the time of Moses, whereas in reality the city of Samaria was founded more than 500 years after the time of Moses.

Faithful believers go to any level to bend all rules of logic to deny the undeniable, defend the indefensible and explain the unexplainable. Why should there be a need to explain contradictions in a ‘clear book’?

Now let us see some clear mistakes of the Quran.

1-      Quran  2: 74Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder. For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth, and there are some of them that split open and water comes out, and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.”

This verse says that some Rocks fall down for ‘fear of Allah’. Rocks are non-living things, who do not have any emotions like fear. This is a ridiculous, absurd statement in the Quran, which shows that it is the statement of a man with a limited intelligence, and not God. A real God would know that Rocks do not have emotions.

2-    Quran  41:11Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, “Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion.” They said, “We have come willingly.””

This verse says that Heaven and Earth have wills of their own to obey or disobey God. They also talked to God and said “We have come willingly”. Even a little grown-up children will know that non-living beings like the Earth and Heaven cannot have wills of their own, and cannot talk. A real God or even any intelligent man would know that Earth and Heaven do not have emotions.

3-      Quran     13:13 “And the thunder exalts [ Allah ] with praise of Him – and the angels [as well] from fear of Him – and He sends thunderbolts and strikes therewith whom He wills while they dispute about Allah ; and He is severe in assault.”

This verse says that the thunder (of rain) praises God. Again, a non-living thing praising God is a big mistake.

4-      Quran   13:15  “And to Allah prostrates whoever is within the heavens and the earth, willingly or by compulsion, and their shadows [as well] in the mornings and the afternoons”

This verse says that SHADOWS prostrate before God. They are of course, non-living.

5-     Quran   17:44   “The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [ Allah ] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.”

This verse says that Earth and Heavens praise God, exalt God. Again, small children can believe it, but not grown ups or even a little grown children. Non living objects like Earth are just that-non living.

6-     Quran  33:72   “Lo! We offered the trust unto the heavens and the earth and the hills, but they shrank from bearing it and were afraid of it. And man assumed it. Lo! he hath proved a tyrant and a fool. “

This verse says that Heavens, Earth and Hills refused to accept God’s trust and were ‘afraid’ of God’s trust. These are non-living objects who have no feelings like ‘Fear’ and cannot ‘refuse’ God’s trust.

7-    Quran   55:6 “And the stars and trees prostrate”

The stars are non-living beings which cannot prostrate before God.

8-     Quran  59:21   “If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah . And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought”

This verse says that a mountain has fear of Allah. Naturally mountains are non-living things having no emotions of fear.

9-     20:85-88, 95 “He said: Lo! We have tried thy folk in thine absence, and As-Samiri hath misled them. Then Moses went back unto his folk, angry and sad. He said: O my people! Hath not your Lord promised you a fair promise? Did the time appointed then appear too long for you, or did ye wish that wrath from your Lord should come upon you, that ye broke tryst with me? They said: We broke not tryst with thee of our own will, but we were laden with burdens of ornaments of the folk, then cast them (in the fire), for thus As-Samiri proposed. Then he produced for them a calf, of saffron hue, which gave forth a lowing sound. And they cried: This is your god and the god of Moses, but he hath forgotten…. (Moses) said: And what hast thou to say, O Samiri?"

However, at the time of Moses, Samaria did not exist and there was no one known as Samaritan. Samaria was a hill belonging to Shemer that was purchased by King Omri where he founded the city of Samaria about 870 B.C. The Samaritans as a distinct people only emerged after the exile of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the resettlement of the area under king Sargon II after 722 B.C. Moses lived in around 1400 years B.C.  That is five to seven centuries before anyone could be called Samaritan (Sameri). Therefore, the explanation of the Quran that Samaritans led the Jews to worship a calf cannot be correct. At the time of Moses Samaria did not exist and no one could be the citizen of an inexistent city. This full article will comprehensively reveal this mistake http://alisina.org/?p=191

10- Quran 39: 6 “He created you from one being, then from that (being) He made its mate; and He hath provided for you of cattle eight kinds.”

There are of course, many more than 8 kinds of cattle. This list on wikipedia gives many more https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cattle_breeds

11- Quran 42 :10 “And in whatsoever ye differ, the verdict therein belongeth to Allah. Such is my Lord, in Whom I put my trust, and unto Whom I turn.”

Clearly, these can’t be God’s words. It is quite obvious that these are Muhammad’s words. This is a clear mistake of the Quran, since it is supposed to be the Word of God, not Muhammad. Muhammad forgot that the Quran should have been the word of God, and let slip words which obviously reveal are his. This shows that it is Muhammad, not God, who wrote the Quran.

12- Quran 50:30 “On the day when We say unto hell: Art thou filled? and it saith: Can there be more to come?”

This verse says that Hell will talk to God. Hell, just like Heaven (assuming it exists) is a non-living entity with no ability to ‘talk’ to God. This incidentally also contradicts 78:37 which says that no one can converse with God, but here in this Verse it says that Hell will converse with God.

13- Quran 51:50-51 “Therefor flee unto Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from him. And set not any other God along with Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from Him. “

Clearly, these cant be the words of God. They are obviously the words of Muhammad. In the translation by Pickthall, he says in his comments that it appears that it is the revealing angel who is saying this. Irrespective of whether these are the words of the revealing angel or of Muhammad, why are they in the Quran which is supposed to be the Word of God? Either way, they are not God’s words. Obviously these are Muhammad’s words, who forgot that the words should be God’s.

14- Quran  51:49 : “And all things We have created by pairs, that haply ye may reflect.”

This is a clear mistake. Not all animals have pairs, such as aphid, hydras, budding, Binary Fission, etc

15- The Quran says: The food for the people in Hell will be only “Dhari” 88:6, “only foul pus from the washing of wounds” 69:36, and “they also get to eat from the tree of Zaqqum” 37:62-66?

This is a clear contradiction. Muslim explanation: Here, someone tries to explain the unexplainable by saying that God is simply saying that food in Hell will be horrible and that God uses different words for the same thing. This is a clear contradiction-foul pus is different from Dhari and tree of Zaqqum is also different. Nowhere is it said in the Quran that Dhari is same as pus and Zaqqum’s fruits. Forcible explanations to explain the unexplainable clear contradiction are all wrong.

These are just a few of the numerous mistakes of the Quran. There are many more, more than 1000 mistakes in the Quran itself and thousands more ridiculous tales in the Hadith.

Today the “communal” or rather the “terrorist” problem is simple, and so is its solution. The root cause of the terrorist attacks on Europe (eg. Germany, France, Spain, UK etc), USA,  riots in India, terrorist acts of the Islamic State, Boko Haram, Taliban etc is the Islamic doctrine of permanent hostility against the unbelievers. As the Quran says: “Fight them until idolatry is no more and religion belongs to Allah alone” (2:193 and 8:39), and: “Enmity and hate shall reign between us until ye believe in Allah alone” (60:4). More than 70 passages in the Quran teach that non-Muslims are to be shunned and treated as enemies, that they are bound for hellfire, and that rulership in this and bliss in the next world is reserved for Muslims alone. This body of doctrine is further corroborated and enriched with like-minded statements and model acts of Mohammed and his companions, and systematized by theologians and jurists.

The solution is obvious: remove the intrinsically communal and separatist doctrine of Islam from the minds of its misguided followers. Educate them so that they can laugh at the primitive beliefs which have held them captive for so long, just as adults can take a laugh at their own childhood illusions. Indeed, frank debate on ideas is inversely proportionate with riots and bomb attacks. For this reason, the secularist editors and professors and politicians who suppress debate on the record and doctrines of Islam are among the chief culprits of the world’s communal conflagrations. There is the “secular”, Leftists’ effort to shield Islam from rational investigation and informed debate. Everyone should make and support every effort to expose Islam and break the spell it has cast on hundreds of millions of people now known as Muslims. Those who are spreading the truth of Islam, like Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer etc need to mention the obvious mistakes of the Quran which show Islam as false too, which will enable Muslims to see the truth and leave Islam. They stick to Islam despite these mistakes mainly for fear of Hell and death to apostates.

Today, the liberation of the Muslims from Islam should be a top priority for all those who care about the world’s future. This is all the more obvious when we notice that in the Muslim world itself, many writers have stood up to publicize their break with Islam, and to show their brethren the way out of the religion which was forced on them by Mohammed and his companions. Some have done so from a newfound atheist conviction (e.g. Taslima Nasrin), others from a rediscovery of the ancient ever-young spirituality of the Vedic tradition (e.g. the late Anwar Shaikh), and others simply after realizing that Islam is false, eg. Ali Sina, which Taslima Nasrin and Anwar Sheikh also did. Given the intolerance for dissident opinions in the Muslim world, and given the actual spate of murders and murder attempts against fellow dissidents, each one of these apostates has had to muster far more courage than sensible people will need when they finally speak up against Islam in the relative safety and freedom of the secular world in Europe, USA and even India.

Mohammed’s own contemporaries were almost unanimous in dismissing his “revelations” as anything but divine, though they disagreed on whether his problem was demonic possession (as is still taught by some Christian missionaries) or just his imagination ran wild. Except for a few followers (no more than 70 or 80 people in 12 years of preaching from 610 AD to 622 AD), everyone saw through his claims, and asked him to tell his God to at least show the Angel Gabriel to them. Modern scholars have analyzed Mohammed’s behaviour and “revelations” as typical symptoms of paranoia. At any rate, there is nothing God-given about the Quranic revelation.

In fact, early Islam was sustained by fear of Hell. Many Muslims throughout history are on record saying that Islam survived for so long only due to two factors- death penalty given to apostates (anyone leaving Islam) and fear of Hell.

In coming parts we will see other such blatant mistakes of the Quran, which reveal that it is not the word of God, and which should enable Muslims to leave Islam. One actually doesn’t even need such blatant mistakes in the Quran to show that it is not the word of God. This fact becomes more than obvious when one studies the context in which these ‘revelations’ of God come to Muhammad. One finds that Allah never fails to confirm what his prophet is planning to do in order to serve the latter’s cause in a particular situation. Ayesha, the favorite wife of Muhammad had seen through this game and summed up her observation in a Hadith recorded, saying: “I feel that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 311).” The full text of Ayesha’s statement is:
“Narrated Aisha:
I used to look down upon those ladies who had given themselves to Allah’s Apostle and I used to say, “Can a lady give herself (to a man)?” But when Allah revealed: “You (O Muhammad) can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive any of them whom you will; and there is no blame on you if you invite one whose turn you have set aside (temporarily).’ (Quran 33:51) I said (to the Prophet), “I feel that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires.””
Dayananda Saraswati had rightly characterized the Allah of the Quran as Muhammad’s domestic servant.

Ali Sina's Challenge- US $ 1,00,000 to anyone who can win

Ali Sina is the founder of FaithFreedom International, www.faithfreedom.org and a former Muslim. He has announced a Challenge on his website at this link http://www.faithfreedom.org/sinas-challenge/

However, since this website is banned in several countries, and other similar websites are also banned, and also being removed from Google search following complaints from Muslims, this challenge is being copied here in this blog to preserve another copy. Ali Sina writes:

"I receive many emails from angry Muslims, who sometimes beg and sometimes order me to remove this site. I consider both, pleading and bullying signs of psychopathology. Argumentum ad baculum and argumentum ad misericordiam are logical fallacies.

If you do not like this site and want me to remove it disprove my charges against Muhammad logically.  Not only will I remove the site, I will publicly announce that Islam is a true religion. I will also pay $50,000 U.S. dollars to anyone who can disprove any of the dozen of the accusations that I have made against Muhammad. I accuse Muhammad of being:

a narcissist  a misogynist a rapist
a pedophile a lecher a  torturer
a mass murderer a cult leader an assassin
a terrorist a mad man a looter

It is not easy for a Muslim (i.e. a Muhammadan) to bear much criticism of Muhammad (let alone see Muhammad for who he was). It is like telling a child that his father is a rapist, murderer and a thief. A child who adulates his father will not be able to accept it even if all the proofs in the world are shown to him. He will instead call you a liar, hate you for hurting him, curse you and may explode in anger and hit you physically. A Muslim will genuinely believe that Muhammad was the MOST PERFECT person, kind and compassionate, merciful. A Muslim would generally admire and respect Muhammad more than his own parents. To understand this matter, a Christian reader should imagine being told that Jesus was a rapist, murderer and a thief, or a Buddhist being told the same about Buddha, or a Hindu being told the same about Krishna, Rama etc. But a child’s father can also be a rapist, murderer and a thief, and so it is in case of Islam that the man regarded as the best human ever was actually not so.

The evidences of the above charges are exhaustively presented in my book Understanding Muhammad, now available for free download.

I have debated with many Muslims. Their defense of Islam can be summarized in two categories:

a-      Denial of the authenticity of Islamic sources that report the stories of crimes of Muhammad (example: debate with Edip Yukssel, a leader of the Submitters)
b-     Moral relativism and situational ethics, e.g., “In those days, pedophilia, assassination, rape, raid, pillage, massacre and lying were common practices, therefore, Muhammad is innocent because he did what everyone else was doing.”  Muslims go as far as to question the legitimacy of the Golden Rule and argue that no one other than a messenger of God can decide what is right and wrong. Hence, if he murders, plunders, tortures and rapes these practices must be good. (Example: debate with Yamin Zakaria)

These are the main two arguments that Muslims present in defense of their prophet. Any rational person can see they are logical fallacies.

The charges I have laid against Muhammad are irrefutable because they are reported in Islamic sources and as such are as good as confessions. You can’t acquit a criminal after he has confessed, unless you plead insanity, which is my point.

Muslims often ask, “Who will judge whether or not an attempt to disprove your accusations against Muhammad and Islam has been successful?”  Let us leave that to the readers. Once both sides present their arguments without fear of reprisal it won’t be hard to distinguish truth from falsehood. First read my book and then publish your rebuttal here.

The above challenge was issued in 2001 and it hasn’t been met yet. See the debates I had with Muslims.  Also, see Muslims rebuttals here , here, here and here.  Is that all the Muslim world can offer?  Where are the scholars of Islam?  Why an important task such as defending Islam is left to amateurs who do more damage to Islam?  Why the real scholars of Islam have remained silent?

The truth is that several of the people that debated me were real scholars, such as the eminent Pakistani scholar Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi and his disciple Dr. Khalid Zaheer. This debate is a must read and is available for download.

As of this date (2007), I will no longer debate with people who want to debate anonymously. I only debate with reputable scholars. I made this decision because often, Muslims moved by their faith and zealotry, but with little knowledge of Islam, challenge me to debate. They rehash the same tried and refuted arguments that bore everyone and disappear. Then, other Muslims either accuse me of fabricating those debates or pooh-pooh my opponents for not being real scholars.

As of this day, I am also doubling the reward. If you are not a reputable scholar, you can still win the prize. All you have to do is persuade a scholar to refute my charges. If he (she) wins or can prove that Muhammad was a prophet of God, both you and he (she) will be rewarded $50,000 dollars each. This is to encourage you to write to your admired scholars and convince them that Islam is in danger and that it is their duty to defend it.

Yes, Islam is in grave danger. Never since its inception Islam has faced a threat as serious as this. The critics of Islam were simply killed. But today, millions of ex-Muslims are questioning the claimed truth of Islam and can make their criticisms heard worldwide without fearing for their lives.  As long as these questions are not answered more Muslims will leave Islam. The trickle will become a torrent and the fall of Islam becomes inevitable. The biggest enemy of Islam is truth and with Internet it is impossible to extinguish the truth. Muslims stick to Islam mainly with the hope of Paradise and for fear of Hell. But if God sends people to Hell for disbelief, then Muslims will be first to go to Hell for believing in a charlatan and attributing insanity to God.

In the past, critics of Islam briefly shined in the darkness of this faith, only to be put out by winds of persecution. What is happening today can be likened to the break of the dawn.  Darkness has no chance when the sun is on the rise.  Muslims are waking up and leaving Islam like never before. A spiritual and an intellectual revolution is underway.  This is the century of enlightenment for Muslims. The days of Islam are numbered.  This demon of hate and ignorance will be slain by the hands of its own primary victims.  What will replace Islam will be peace, prosperity and unity of mankind. We are all children of one God who loves us equally. If God loves us all how could we hate each other? Would a loving God send a religion to make us hate and kill one another? Islam is blasphemy. It is the biggest trick of the Devil. Besides, there are numerous mistakes in the Quran which prove that it is not from God. A book from God cannot not contain a single mistake, all that is needed to dismiss the Quran as a word of God is one mistake. The Quran contains hundreds (e.g. in 2:74 says Rocks ‘fear’ God as if they have emotions, 41:11 says Earth and Heaven have wills of their own to obey or disobey God and talked to God, 86.7  says sperms proceed from between the backbone and the ribs, which is wrong and many other mistakes), which show that Islam is false.

Please advertise this challenge. This is like throwing water on Muslim’s fire. Nothing will dampen their zeal more than the realization that among a billion Muslims there is not a single scholar who can prove the wild claims of Muhammad or acquit him of these criminal charges. This challenge has a sobering effect on Muslims.  They can make excuses, such as I am not worth their response, there have been greater men than me who opposed Islam, or that I have been refuted already, but they will not be able to fool themselves.  The more this challenge is circulated, the more Muslims will doubt Islam. Do not undermine the psychological effect of this impossible challenge.
Sincerely
Ali Sina

   Update: 2010/08/17

Although the number of Muslims accepting this challenge has dropped substantially, I still receive long emails from Muslims who do their best to meet this challenge. The problem is that these Muslims are not familiar with the charges. What you see in this site is only an introduction to the charges. To see the evidence you have to read my book, Understanding Muhammad. Now from 15 July 2016, the latest edition of the book is also available for free download. It is available in English, Arabic, Urdu and Tamil.

If you decide to answer this challenge, please don’t put pen to paper before you read the book. I know your excessive faith makes you believe you know everything, but really you don’t. So only after you read it write your rebuttal. I can assure you once you read the book there will remain nothing for you to say."
